Waterford Valley Pictures is a Canadian based Production company which focuses on stories about people who have been marginalized with a focus on the BIPOC, 2SLGBTQAI+, Deaf and disabled community. Owned and operated by Canadian Screen Award Nominated Producer, Director, Writer and Educator Lora Campbell, the company was created in 2018 and since then produced works in short, digital, and feature formats and is currently developing television properties as well.

 WVP has Produced and Executive Produced over 30 award winning projects including the feature films Village Keeper and 40 Acres, digital series CBC’s Yoga 101 and CBC’s Soul Decision Comedy, the latter being nominated for two Canadian Comedy Awards. In 2019 they produced Transform a short documentary which has played festivals all over Canada and recently Executive Produced Never Sleep, a short film by Ayo Tsalithaba

WVP developed Queer Comedy Heist Let’s Do This, which was chosen for the 2019 international development program Breaking Through the Lens and is a co-production between award winning production companies Snail Mail Media (Fonna Tasha Seidu), Good Question Media (Daniel Beckerman, Chris Yurkovich, Jordan Hart), and Clique Pictures (Lauren Grant).  Stonewalled, a dramatic feature that explores access to health care for transgender people participated in the international development lab Attagirl in 2021. 

WVP is currently developing numerous projects including The Cat’s Mother a comedic half hour television show which was selected for the Women in Film and Television’s Scripted Series Development Incubator in 2024. Sherbrooke, an hour long medical drama and the features The Next Right Thing as well as Portage, a thriller about four best friends who must get out of the woods alive.

Lora Campbell

Lora Campbell is a Canadian Screen Award nominated, disabled, transgender non-binary writer/director from Newfoundland, Canada who has called Toronto home for over a decade. They have written and directed numerous short films including HAIRCUT which premiered at the Montreal World Film Festival, directed numerous television series including the Emmy Award winning television series ODD SQUAD (PBS) and AUNTY B’s Place (CBC). Their projects have played film festivals across the world garnering them multiple awards.

They have created, written and directed on multiple digital series which they received Comedy Award nominations, including THE BEAVERTON DIGITAL and SOUL DECISION COMEDY respectively. Their Queer Comedy Heist feature LET’S DO THIS was selected for the international development lab Breaking Through the Lens and their Queer Medical Drama STONEWALLED was chosen for the international feature film incubator Attagirl cohort. In 2024 their television series The Cat’s Mother was chosen for the WIFT-T Scripted Development series and most recently their short film VIGIL was short listed for the Vancouver Queer Film Festival’s Pitch Competition. When not writing and directing Lora creates and facilitates film education programs for emerging 2SLGBTQAI+ and Deaf/disabled folks through the Inside Out LGBTQ Film Festival, ReelAbilities Toronto, FILM PEI and numerous other organizations.
